LAC Federal is seeking a Scanner Operator/Digitization Specialist to support an archival program by preparing and digitizing materials for inclusion in a digital archives. You will work under the direction of an Archivist to prepare materials by removing fasteners and dis-binding material for bulk digitization. Materials will include archival and other rare materials that require careful and delicate handling. Formats include paper, drawings, posters, marketing collateral, photographs and visual media, etc. The Scanner Operator will apply file names in accordance with a strict schema before saving the materials for quality control review. The scanner reviews all digitized files rescanning as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare text and image based materials for scanning
Calibrate scanning/digitization equipment and select appropriate settings
Scan and review materials for quality
Apply naming schema and save files for quality review
Perform post-processing of images to perform color adjustments, image optimization
Requirements
Bachelor Degree
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Adobe Photoshop
Experience handling and scanning rare materials, archival materials
Experience with scanning text and image based materials
Knowledge of Adobe, OmniPage Professional, JAWS
Careful attention to detail
Ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to life up to 30 pounds
