This is an exciting time to work at Amarillo College! We are seeking our next 30-hour Full-Time Advising Associate in Student Support Services at our Moore County Campus who will will provide guidance to students in the Student Support Services program in their education and career pathway at our Moore County Campus.
*This position is grant-funded and that continued employment is contingent on continued funding.This position works 30 hours weekly.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Computer Science, Math, English or related field.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, orrelated field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Two (2) or more years of experience in education, counseling and/or related fields.
Preferred:
Experience in a public-school setting and/or higher education
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advise students regarding degree requirements and assist with registration.
Assist students with financial aid, scholarships, transfer issues, career and employment options.
Evaluate individual education/degree plans as required by state statute for students.
Serve as the Success Coach for SSS students to increase completion, graduation and transfer.
Participate in activities to recruit and retain students;
discusses career options.
Teach classes/seminars as requested.
Perform skilled services such as:
intake, assessment, documentation, data collection, record-keeping and reporting that fulfil the activities and objectives of the project.
Participates in new student orientation, Badger Boot Camp, career days, Early Alert, Peer Leader and mentoring program.
Accompany transferring SSS participants on campus visits and transfer orientations to area universities. Plan and deliver two staff trainings per year to provide communication between staff.
Develop a remediation plan for inactive or non-returning students.
Attend Moore County Campus activities and staff meetings.
Participate in cross-training activities.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Schedule:
May be required to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and various outside events if necessary.)
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.E. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Ellucian Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
Conditions of Employment:
All employment offers are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the pre-hire process, including a criminal background screening.
Travel Expectations:
Some travel may be required.
Salary:
grade 10. Placement within the pay grade dependent upon candidate’s education, experience, credentials and skills.
