Job Description
Who we are:
Osseo Area Schools Adult Basic Education (ABE) serves nearly 1,000 students age 17 and older each year. Our students come from over 60 countries and speak nearly 50 languages. 95% of our students self-identify as a person of color. We are a student-centered program, with classes in core content areas as well as technology and workplace skills. We are located in the heart of Brooklyn Center, MN, at the Northwest Family Service Center, and collaborate with our social services building partners to provide support to our learners to be successful in class as well as in the community.

The position:
We are seeking an instructor for a temporary, grant funded teaching position to provide 20 hours of just-in-time instruction to support up to 15 students to be successful as they complete the Property Maintenance class taught by Century College and their training partner. This class is being offered in partnership with CAPIUSA, a community-based organization in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Century College and Osseo Area Schools. The class dates are Monday-Thursday, June 24-July 31, 2024. There are an additional 63 class observation hours and 10 hours of prep/non-contact for a total of 93 hours per cohort, for a total of four cohorts between June 24, 2024, and June 30, 2025. This class will take place ONLINE using Google Meets and/or Zoom. The teacher who accepts this position will be responsible for taking attendance and assisting students in navigating online tools to be successful in navigating the course and certification exams. A course syllabus and the college course student workbook are available to help prepare for the just-in-time instruction components.

Requirements for this position:
Candidates must have a valid MN teaching license.
