Position Overview:
As the Accounting Supervisor, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and leading a team of accounting professionals. You will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving process improvements and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor a team of accounting staff, including accounts payable/receivable clerks and general ledger accountants.
Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by the accounting team.
Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure audit readiness.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency in accounting operations.
Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.
Stay current on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required;
CPA or MBA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, including supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards (GAAP).
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms.
Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong work ethic and commitment to integrity and professionalism.
