Accounting Supervisor

Position Overview:
The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will have prior supervisory experience in accounting and a track record of implementing process improvements and driving results.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, including staff accountants and clerks
Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP standards
Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants during audits and tax filings
Analyze financial data and provide insights to management to support decision-making
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to optimize efficiency
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and strategic objectives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required;
CPA certification preferred
Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity
Thorough understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements
Proficiency in accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, Famous, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and integrity
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
