Accounting Specialist

Job Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with month-end closing processes. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience with accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
Perform 2-way and 3-way matching of invoices.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain and update vendor records.
Accounts Receivable:
Generate and send invoices to customers.
Process incoming payments, including checks, ACH, and credit card payments.
Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
Follow up on overdue accounts and resolve billing issues.
Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements monthly.
Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and generate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Compliance and Audit:
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with internal and external audits.
Support and Collaboration:
Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Provide support to other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and receivable.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
