Accounting Clerk

Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing support to the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling bank statements. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Entry:
Input financial transactions into the accounting software.
Maintain accurate and complete records of financial activities.
Accounts Payable:
Receive, verify, and process invoices.
Perform 2-way and 3-way matching.
Prepare and process payment runs, including checks and electronic payments.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Accounts Receivable:
Generate and send out invoices to clients.
Process incoming payments, including cash, checks, and ACH transfers.
Reconcile accounts receivable balances and follow up on overdue accounts.
Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements monthly.
Identify discrepancies and work to resolve them promptly.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Assist in maintaining the general ledger.
Post journal entries and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements.
Generate routine financial reports and summaries for management.
Administrative Support:
Assist with filing and organizing financial documents.
Support the finance team with various administrative tasks as needed.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
Familiarity with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
