Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a state-of-the-art STEAM lab with the integration of a variety of robotics, engineering, construction, and design tools.
- Prior knowledge, or willingness to develop skill sets, using a variety of STEM tools including, 3-D Printers, Printlab programs, Sphero Robots, Wonder Dot and Dash, Cubelets, Snap Circuits, Magna Tiles and Microscopes.
- Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math principles.
- Demonstrate the ability to encourage students to use a variety of skills to solve problems and collaborate amongst peers.
- Facilitate hands-on experiments and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
- Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula for students in grades K-5.
- Understand how to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences.
- Support the School-wide Science Fair and Curriculum EXPO.
- Provide a STEAM Parent Academy during the school year.
- Collaborate with STEAM coach.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan units of study.
- Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEAM, and online tools.
- Collaborate with other schools in the CSA district to support STEM/STEAM programs and initiatives.
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a positive, encouraging learning climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
- Assist with analysis of science data for grade five students and work with teachers to provide intervention strategies.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
- Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Participate in training and professional development.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as:
meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, etc.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science/STEM field. (preferred)
- Florida teaching certificate in Elementary Education or 5-9 Science
- Knowledge of STEAM best practices.
- Empathy and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with basic computer software such as Word and Excel.
- Previous experience as a STEM/STEAM teacher (preferred)
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Excellent teamwork abilities.
